The short version

• We never sell your data, to anyone, for any reason.
• Your course material and conversations exist to make the tutor useful to you, nothing else.
• We use as few third parties as the product actually needs, and we name every one of them below.
• You can ask us to delete your account and everything tied to it at any time.

What we collect

Account info

Your email and display name, handled through Clerk (our authentication provider). We never see or store your password. Clerk does.

Course material you upload

PDFs, slides, and notes you upload to a course are stored so the tutor can answer questions grounded in your actual material instead of guessing. Only you can see it.

Conversations with the tutor

Text chat and voice-call transcripts are stored so the tutor remembers context across a session, and over time, things like topics you've struggled with, the same way a real tutor would remember you between sessions. Voice audio itself is streamed live to generate a response and isn't kept as an audio recording. The text transcript is what's stored.

What you create in the app

Notes, tasks, goals, flashcards, quiz results, and grades you enter are stored to run the features you asked for. A grade tracker only works if it can remember your grades.

Payment info

Handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, only that a subscription exists and which plan it's on.

Basic usage analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages get used, in aggregate. It's not tied to your tutoring conversations or course material.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the product. We don't sell or rent your data to anyone, including these providers, beyond what's needed for them to do their specific job:

Google (Gemini API): generates the tutor's responses. Your messages and relevant course material are sent to Google's API to produce an answer. Under Google's API terms, this traffic isn't used to train their models, unlike the free consumer Gemini app.
Clerk: authentication and account/session management.
Stripe: payment processing for Plus/Premium plans.
Vercel: hosting.

We'd only share anything beyond this if legally required to, and only to the extent required.

Your controls

Delete individual notes, files, tasks, courses, or flashcards any time from inside the app. To delete your entire account and everything tied to it (course material, conversation history, everything), email info@waypointmentor.com and we'll process it promptly. Canceling a subscription (Profile → Manage billing) stops billing immediately, but it doesn't delete your data. That's a separate, explicit request, so you never lose your notes/flashcards just by downgrading.
